So after the seats were set and e still had plenty of time to kill. We went ahead and decided to re-finish the Cusco roll bar. This bar had been on this car since the mid to late 90s. So they had seen their fair share of wear and tear. Didn't feel right to put it back on looking nasty and at one point I decided to pair it white, so its just right that we restore it to the original "Cusco Blue"
First thing first. The kid strips and sand the bar. He used aircraft paint stripper and I power washed it afterward. He then wet sanded the bar with a medium grit paper 300grit. After explaining to him a few times why wet sand and that there is a difference between using a sandpaper thats meant for wet and using one for dry. He managed to get all the paint off and sanded the bar smooth.
We then hanged the bars. Helped spray the bars. With the weather being cold, I had to be extra careful not to let the paint run by putting too much on at the sometime but still applied it wet enough so it won't have any dry spot. As that wasn't hard enough I was spraying metallic blue with a lot of metal flakes. Metal will tend to rundown easier.
